| Ballerina Adorned in ruby lipstick, blush on cheek and powdered nose She looks quite like a princess in her sparkling dancing clothes And with the charm and grace the best of childhood will engage This sweet and lovely prima ballerina takes the stage She tip-toes out; she pirouettes, her arms in graceful pose She glides into her learned dance, as in your heart she goes And she imprints her message there, a love you understand Her family is content inside the palm of her little hand She knows she is a “star” today, and she has earned that title She practiced hard and now she shines in this, her grand recital Family pride, a natural bias surely will allow So many children on the stage, but she stands out somehow You cannot wait to hug her tightly when the show is through How she captivated everyone in her “debut” She revels in the afterglow, aware of all her charms Soon to dream of her special day, asleep in her mother’s arms |

| Baby Talk - A Poem for Julia Talk to me in baby talk And help me understand Pretty things you have to say While I hold your hand Babble sweet and lovely sounds Ohs and Aahs and Coos And I will gladly give to you The heart I’m pleased to lose Bend my ears with playful sounds And smile the while you do Let me take in gleefully Those baby songs from you There is not one sound as sweet My ears could hope to hear So prattle on the thoughts you think And I will hold them dear! |
