| The Showman He was, by all accounts, a person who had found his trade And so well-suited to that trade was he Each and every lasting impressions he has made Is now a living part of his legacy Adept at everything in his illustrious career This singer, dancer, actor made his mark And with his passing millions upon millions shed a tear And in its tribute, Broadway streets went dark He was man and gentleman who all the world adored Respected for what he gave to the arts Blessed with an appeal that could never be ignored He effortlessly opened minds and hearts Through the years, as actors fill the stage and the camera’s eye Many great performers will come and go But the man who first sang “try to remember” will never die For the showman was even greater than the show. |
| There will Never Be Silence (A tribute to The Carpenters) There will never be silence; she had the last word For her voice is echoing still There will always be music where that voice was heard And a void that no one can fill There will never be silence; their sound is a part Of all the best humans can say There will always be memories close to the heart Of artists at work and at play There will never be silence where they made a song And they made songs everywhere There will always be strains playing sweetly and strong And she probably sings way up there Where they’ll never be silence, as angels sing too Yet I’ll bet they are now listening And Heaven has music melodic and true Because Karen has come Home to sing |
