| FROM JAVE’, TO “DADDY” I call my Pop-Pop “Daddy” That’s what he is to me My hero, my teacher, my playmate And my favorite company We have a bond between us So close, so grand, so strong On his lap; holding his hand This is where I belong We share so much together The sports we watch and play He shows me how to garden. Teaches me geography We look at maps together We play on our P.C. I like to show and tell each thing My “daddy” teaches me I ask him lots of questions ‘Cause he’s smart as he can be He answers everything I ask him Oh, so patiently He always has the time for My each and every need And he gives me advice for life To serve my every need |
He tells me to help my mother To respect her all my days To be ever kind to people To open doors for ladies To never hit a woman Never touch drugs, he said Get a college education And keep a “level” head I may not understand now All that I need to know But I will sure remember ‘Cause my “daddy” told me so I do not like to share him Not even with mom-mom because He is the world and more to me Like one’s best friend, or Santa Claus I want him to always be there When school is over each day To share hamburgers and milk shakes To laugh and talk and play I want to share my feelings And so this poem will show How much you mean to me “Daddy” Happy Father’s Day - I love you so!
