Animal Love So much has been said and written Of what friendship means When it binds one human to another Of the fervent love-lorn, “smitten”, Or bonds within our genes, Or love of sister, brother, father, mother We receive another form of Love that is unique In a world we mutually inhabit Freely it is given, this love Happily I speak Of the pets and wildlife on this planet A pet’s love for the people who Treat them like ‘adopted child’ Is unconditional; it has no strings Cognizant of a ‘balance’ too Between life in the wild And all of us who care about these things We can learn so much from them How they all survive In a world filled with uncertainty Every species is a gem That deserves to be alive No less for how they love than you and me
The Love of God The love of God is why we’re here Regardless of how we define Him In every faith He is standing near Closing our eyes will not blind Him He’ll always see us in His light And listen when we are praying And because He is always right He will understand what we’re saying Better than we could know ourselves He can read what the Heart meant And the things that are best for us Like the most nurturing parent The love of God is everywhere The scale of it can’t be measured It’s a gift we may never repay, But a gift that may always be treasured
Secret Dreams of The Heart There is a place within us at the core of who we are Where all our deepest wishes live and grow Unless we have one soul-mate who shares every single thought These wishes are for us alone to know They may be dreams beyond our reach, too lofty to attain Or something we’re too proud to say we need Something we aspire to that keeps our soul alive Motivating us to just succeed Whatever we want most in life will make us ache inside But without those aches we are a shell Some of us will cry ourselves to sleep, and some will fight To make the dreams come true, or break their spell Do we own our secret dreams, or are we owned by them? Are the things we wish for all they seem? Each of us is different but what truly binds us all Is this; because we’re human we will dream.
