WIZARDS OF YORE
By Brandon Olar

Long ago in the mystical mists of the lands full of magic and dragons,
Wizards and sorceresses wove their spells throughout many a kingdom.
The likes of Merlin and Gandalf, Morganna and Bilbo Baggins;
Their spells and charms and incantations were always full of wisdom.

Dragons soared through the skies, breathing fire bursts and steam.
The knights fought their battles for honor and kings.
Wizards wove the dragons’ breath in the castles like a dream.
Working their magic while the dragons fly away flapping wings.

Potions full of concoctions carefully picked from the woods or shops;
Scents, stones, candles, and herbs channel energy and power.
Their spell craft using earth, air, water, and fire bring starts and stops.
Wizards chant charms to the north, south, east and west from a castle tower.
Yesterday and Today

Temple and Coogan, Bartholomew, Cooper
Rooney and Garland, to name but a few

I saw them all in all the old movies
And loved every moment; no doubt, you did too

Daniel belongs alongside these people
Like them, he shines; the star of today

And I am certain when his generation
Grows old, the public will still feel that way

Talent like his is rich and inviting
It stands out like all of those stars of the past

Putting his name among beacons of fame
Knowing his hold on the world’s heart will last

Here’s to you, Daniel.  I’m glad I’m living
Now as your talent unfolds and rings true

No star that sits on the Walk of Fame glitters
More than the thought of the things that you do

You’re a reflection of all the good taste
All of your fans can boast from here on

Daniel is truly the present and future
The best actors bring to everyone.
