Dan’s Fans

To see you they spend
Rubles or Yen
Dollars or Marks or Pounds
The hands that applaud
Are skinny or broad
Large or small; the clapping resounds

*
Rich, poor, middle class
Young or old, lad or lass
Home from offices, schools,  foundries
Diversity in each
You’ve manages to reach
Good taste knows no boundaries
*
We’re all nations and race
And in “cyber space”
Groups abound that celebrate you
Film critics and peers
Seasoned actors,  give cheers
For wonderful things that you do
*
And whether you choose
To headline the news
On film or in any endeavor
The world’s richer, dear
Because you are here
And people will love you forever!
A Plea

Please don’t lower the spotlight’s ceiling
Your smile, your talent is so enjoyed
National fame may still be appealing
But other nations would feel such a void

We who live across an ocean
Or on a continent further still
Share the loyalty and devotion
All your “home fans” ever  will

Love that circles the globe would astound you
Fill your heart with unending pride
And so we appeal to those around you
Those who, with you, can decide

"We do not want a different Harry;
We know what you alone are worth"
And we ask producers, "Please carry
All your efforts around the earth"

Do you think we could forget you,
Or that we’d no longer care
If only your countrymen met you
In the limelight, or anywhere?

No, dear Daniel, you have won us
We will be here, faithful, true
And we’re praying, millions of us
That you’ll always ‘be here’ too!
